Off and Yogaing – Day 1

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Perhaps, the real title should be “Off and Running!” but that didn’t seem appropriate.

Since I work from home on websites all day, I figured that I would try and get up for the 6:20am classes.  The studio I go to offers 6:20am classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and instead of the traditional 90 minute hot yoga classes, these classes are only 60 minutes.  As you can imagine, that is like heaven after going to classes that are 90 minutes long.

On Tuesdays (tomorrow) and Thursdays, they are 90 minutes long and go from 6:30am to 8am.

Today’s class was taught by Tim.  He’s an OK instructor, not one of my favorites.  He only teaches this class and no others during the week.

I started doing Yoga again on December 8, but not terribly frequently, so I was definitely more limber than I have been but overall, felt fine.  In fact, I have so much going on right now (still trying to catch up on a number of things on my websites and what not) that the class flew by.

Of course, in a yoga class you are not supposed to be focusing on anything but your breathing.  I barely recognize my breathing with all that is going on.

However, I made it through all 26 Bikram Yoga poses.  I will be impressed if I end up doing Padangustasana (Toe Stand Pose).  I think of that one as an impossible task.  And although most folks cannot stand the Salabhasana (Locust Pose), I am not as annoyed at this one as I am with Sasangasana (Rabbit Pose).

I have D boobs (don’t think I want nasty boob loving comments from that statement), so when I get into the Rabbit Pose, I end up not being able to breathe!  My boobs literally soffocate me!  The instructor’s solution is to take small sips of air…well, that’s nice when you don’t have two mounds of fat in your face.

So anyway, Day 1 is over with…on to Day 2!
