Day 33 – One More Week Of February

Head to Knee Pose

Head to Knee Pose

I cannot believe that there is only one more week of February. I also cannot believe that this is another 5 days in a row. I haven’t done that for a couple of weeks, which is exciting. In an effort to drag out the photos as much as possible, here is another Head to Knee pose, but this one is both legs stretched out, instead of one knee bent in.

I was annoyed today in class because there was a lady that came in late and for some reason she lined up right behind me. There were only 8 people in the class, so of course, there was plenty of room, but she apparently wanted to be right behind me. I say that with confidence because I thought maybe she was just flustered and accidentally lined up with me when she first came in, but that’s not the case because when we got to the floor postures, she again lined up right behind me.

I find this annoying because of the amount of space in the room, it violates my personal space and is just bloody annoying.  Doesn’t she want to see herself in the mirror, rather than looking at my ass to see if she’s in line with her posture?

I could very well be off and not be giving her the benefit of the doubt, but I honestly couldn’t figure out why she kept doing that….unless she is just in la-la land.

So one more week is done, there is only one more week in February and then we’re into March!  Whoa.  Have a good weekend.  Namaste.

I’m so glad I’ve found this blog. I, too, am fighting to get rid of unfortunate weight gain. In addition to hiking and my gym membership I’m back to Birkam after about a year off. One of the things I have been obsessing over recently is whether or not someone my size can even DO some of these postures (I feel you on Rabbit; I’m a DDD). Standing head to knee occasionally makes me want to bust out in hysterical laughter – my thighs are such that I cannot even get the grip yet. Fixed-firm is far and away the posture that frustrates me the most. In a very small class the studio owner gave me a correction that made me realize I’ve only ever done the posture wrong. Right now, I cannot get my hips to touch the floor, no matter WHERE my knees are. And, speaking of knees, don’t get me started on Awkward Pose.

All that to say, I am so, so glad, and inspired, to find your blog. This proves to me that if I stick with it I will eventually be able to get into the postures–and I won’t have to be a teensy yogi to do it. The knowledge is invaluable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Kat, may i first start out by saying thank you for commenting on the blog as sometimes it is hard to write about it every day when there is no communication back. i mean a good friend of mine and my brother read it, but i was hoping to get feedback from more. i am sorry that you are struggling with some of the same issues, as it is not fun to go down in weight!

i hurt my knee awhile back and have a hard time in the awkward postures as well. it is sooo frustrating, especially because i know i have already been there.

i hear you on finding out that you’ve been doing a posture wrong the whole time you’ve been practicing. that’s no fun!

i do think i have to get smaller in order to get into some of the postures, but i think if my hips would open up that would help me get deeper into any of the postures. so if any of your instructors ever offer tips on how to increase your flexibility in that area (other than just going to class and doing the postures) please let my impatient ass know. thanks for reading!
