I went to the 4:30 class today as I didn’t get to bed early last night.

I had wanted to go to yoga 5x last week but my boyfriend’s sister and family came to town and arrived on Wednesday close to midnight. Since my guest room is above the garage I didn’t want to wake them to leave. Consequently, didn’t make the five times last week. We’ll shoot for five this week.

So today Shagane came in and said we were going to do the class with the lights off unless anyone had energy or sight problems with the lights being off.

I don’t understand this rationale. Where I do yoga – the room is located in an 8-story office building. In the basement! There’s only 6 slivers of windows and it was no glorious sunny day here today. WTF.  No one spoke up about the lights being off and being bad (including me) – so the lights remained off the entire time. Talk about draining energy.

Today’s pose is Balancing Stick Pose or Tuladandasana. This one is a hit or miss. Sometimes I feel a lot of energy and strength in it (today wasn’t one of those days) and sometimes I’m weak and counting the minutes down. I can’t seem to get my hips level in this Bikram yoga pose so that’s what I’m concentrating on at the moment.

The weather has cooled down drastically here so I’m sleeping well with the cool fresh air and looking forward to sleeping tonight!

So I was going to go to yoga on Tuesday, but Bill grilled veggies on Monday night and also roasted some garlic in the process.  Garlic is something I cannot say no to – but should!  By midnight, I was ripping too many farts to even brave the uncomfortable-ness of Tuesday morning yoga, so I didn’t.

Went this morning, obviously and it was packed.  Well, packed for 6am-ers.  It was okay though because I got my spot up front.  I am curious why some days it is packed and other days it is not.  Makes me wonder if it has something to do with the weather or if it has something to do with times of the month or what.  I am sure the studio owner is curious too…or perhaps she already knows.

I’m on the rag, so not feeling all that great with cramps and what not.  Also, I’ve acquired one hell of a shin splint from running…so that was interesting today – it’s pretty hard to stretch a shin splint, so just dealt with the paralyzing pain of that.

Today’s pose is Balancing Stick Pose or Tuladandasana.  I feel like I am gaining more strength in this pose, but still have a ways to go.  I do not care for the photo of this one, as my clothing hanging makes it look like my belly is HUGE and that my crotch is too!  Namaste.

Day 16 – Happy

I almost totally forgot to write a post today until my brother, Spencer, came over and stayed for awhile.  He mentioned that he was enjoying reding my blog and then it dawned on me, “Shit!  I didn’t write my post today!”

Since it was Monday, it was a short class.  I love the short classes.  This one really whized by.

Today’s instructor was Conk and he is one of my favorite instructors.  He has a radio type voice but has also be properly trained in Bikram Yoga poses, so it is nice when he can walk you through the poses the right way. 

So Spencer asked me if I was enjoying it, and I thought about it on Bill’s and my way to the movie Leap Year (it was ALRIGHT – definitely entertaining if you just want a break from reality – definitely a chick flick).  And I realized that I was really happy today in Yoga.

I find that I miss it when I am not doing it, but I like to miss it too, because tomorrow, for example, I do not miss it.  In other words, I am not relishing getting up at 6am to get to the studio at 6:30am.  Yes, that’s right 10 extra minutes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  I do like to be done at 7:25 on Fridays, 9am on Monday and Wednesday (have to go to my personal trainer afterwards) and 8am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but since I am a nightowl, it is always hard for me to go to bed.

Todays pose is Balancing Stick pose.  This pose is held for only 10 minutes and one time an instructor told me that our 4 rounds of this pose (2 on the left plus 2 on the right) equates to 3 mile sof running for the heart.  I wonder about the validity of that.
