Day 111 – Highly Irritated

Trikanasana or Triangle Pose 8/10/10

Trikanasana or Triangle Pose 8/10/10

I laid in bed this morning debating whether or not to get up for yoga. I finally did and was totally annoyed and irritated the whole time.

When I go to an evening class getting up for the morning one is pretty brutal – my body hurts and I have no energy. So I’ve tried to go to the afternoon ones and then the morning ones the next day so there’s more like 12 hours in between. I’ve gotta figure out what to do as I found going only to the 60 minute ones didn’t help in the weightloss department nor did they help in the flexibility department.

Today’s Bikram yoga pose is the Bikram Triangle or Trikanasana. Man, Julia really kicks my ASS in this pose. Julia was yesterday afternoon’s teacher. Today was Maria. I think why Julia really kicks my ass in this pose is because she holds warrior for so long. Standing in warrior really tests my strength and endurance.

I’m confident with my Bikram Triangle pose – I’d just like to have more strength which I think will build over time especially with the changing of teachers.

Namaste.

Day 67 – Quick And Easy

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

I went to yoga on Friday, but now it’s Sunday that I’m writing about it.  Again, it was quick and easy.  Aaron started class at 6:25 and ended at 7:15am.  Not terribly exciting.  There weere only two women in the classs – I was one of them.

I have started to sit out on the Bikram triangle on the left side – to prevent my knee from hurting more.  I asked if there was an alternative to do, instead of the Bikram triangle and two instructors told me to just sit out of it because the regular triangle still strains your knee.

I delayed writing this one because I am so exhausted from the garage sale, and thought if I delayed in writing it then it would have a little more meat and substance – not the case.  On the laptop again today, so even more boring because no photo today.  Better times tomorrow.  Namaste.

Day 56 – Exhausted

Wind Removing Pose Both Knees

Wind Removing Pose Both Knees

I went to the 9am class today because I woke up exhausted.  And didn’t want to be there at all, and as I am standing there in class, I told myself that I already wrote on my blog about how I would try to make it to 5 days/ week of yoga.  Ugh.  But, I tell you what, my blog holds me accountable.  Much like an appointment with a personal trainer, but at least I can switch the times around a bit.

Today Julia was the instructor.  Talk about fit.  She is the one that plays music during class.  God bless her.  She also likes to hold the warrior pose before you go into Bikram triangle which drives me sorta crazy.  Of course, it only drives me crazy because I am not in shape to do it.  It amazes me that I have been doing hot yoga consistently for 3 months and still not in shape!!

I literally was exhausted in class today.  After the standing head to knee pose and the standing bow, I wasn’t sure if I would make it through the rest of class.  I wonder if it is because it is around 80 degrees today, so the room felt hot and humid.  I really don’t know, but it was discouraging – makes you wonder what you did for the last three months of class.  Namaste.

Day 50 – Yeah Flexibility!

Bikram Triangle Pose 2/22/10

Bikram Triangle Pose 2/22/10

I was hoping that once I got back to Yoga that my flexibility would get better.  If anyone knows why when you take a long break from yoga that you all of a sudden seem to have more flexibility and are not as stiff, I would appreciate the knowledge and understanding.

Although I got back from Arkansas on Monday evening, I just couldn’t get out of bed yesterday morning to get to Yoga class.  I think when you end up having so much to catch up on, it is exhausting.  I also had a really nice vacation and wasn’t terribly excited about getting back into the swing of things.  I guess I would have liked a longer vacation.  Although I did miss my cats, so I was excited to see them again.

Because of cramped car rides while in Arkansas, my knee is hurting more than it has been.  I am sure I have torn something, but am hesitant to go to the doctor still…since I have had such a time with health insurance.  So today’s posture, the Bikram Triangle is not my friend when I have to bend my left knee.

Once I am in the position it seems to be fine.  It’s just a matter of getting into the position.

I don’t know why it is taking me so long to get to writing these posts.  Unfortunately, I do not have a computer in my brain because in class, I think of all these things I want to blog about and then I forget to include more than half of them when I actually get to the point where I can sit down and type.

Looking again at the title of this post, I really did feel lighter today with the renewed flexibility.   I hope I don’t lose that.  I did notice that I got that naseous (sp!) feeling in the camel pose again today.  So it is obvious that consistent yoga does keep the toxins out.  I would have to confirm that more by the fact that (knock on wood) I have not been sick this winter!  Which is well deserving because my Graves Disease lowered my white blood cell count for 8 years, and it seemed like I would catch every single cold.  But now that my immune system is back in action, no sicknesses!!

Namaste.

Day 18 – Slacking

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

I am not slacking in yoga, but rather in writing on this blog.  I nearly let the entire day go by before I remember to type something!

I went to yoga today and then to my personal trainer and then spent the remainder of my morning and a decent part of the afternoon helping my mom with computers, her pets and her iPhone.  So it truly slowed me down in getting to my responsibilities of the day.  I always enjoy being with my mom, so it’s not a problem.

Bikram Triangle Pose

Bikram Triangle Pose

It’s ironic that today’s photo ends up being the Bikram Triangle pose (I am listing the daily photos in the Bikram yoga poses series – so that you know the order, as I am sure you are taking notes).  Anyway, today when I was doing the triangle I noticed that my belly had gone down!  YEAH!  Hello! On my way to becoming a hot yoga girl.

But don’t get too excited as my belly is still there and still reminding me of the work ahead of me, but I tell you what – having ten times more energy in class (because I am not taking toxic medication that is doing harm to my liver and kidneys) is really encouraging and gives me hope that I can get there some day soon.

I liked today’s class.  I am not sure why really…but one thing I was thinking about today in class was, “I wonder how many times instructors have seen my sweet ass camel toe.”  So those of you who are not aware of what camel toe is – it’s when your pants ride up into the creases of your vagina and what results for the onlooker is something similar to a camel’s toe.  HOT.  Smokin’ Hot!

Instructors tell you not to figit, so I do my best not to pull my pants back down, but sometimes I cannot handle the appearance of my camel toe…which is something that never happens to me in regular pants…just my yoga ones.  So I sit in class wondering how many of them have seen it and then wonder if they wonder if I am aware of it or if they even notice.  It provides for some entertainment for me while in some of those postures.  In fact, sometimes my thoughts in yoga remind me a lot of the game, Pong, where the ball bounces around and around and you have a little thing that you have to line up with the ball so that it will continue to bounce around.  My thoughts are the ball and the little bar is reality.  Weird stuff.  I probably didn’t explain it right, but I am not sure if I care.  It’s late and I am tired and I just told the world that I have camel toe.

On another note, I cannot believe that January is almost over.  Two more days and 1 month is done for me for Yoga 2010…11 months to go.  Nuts.
