Camel Pose 2/22/10

Camel Pose 2/22/10

Well, I didn’t hit my 5 days of yoga a week in April.  Failed in the first week, which is sorta pathetic.

My knee and hamstring were really hurting this week, so I decided not to push them any further.

I am pretty sure I will not meet the 5 days of yoga this week either because I have brought in a stray cat to my home, and I might be driving him to Colorado later this week – which is a 12+ hour drive – as he might have found a home through Facebook.  His name is Oliver and he is sooo cool.  I hope I can solidify where he is going soon because I want to get him out of my bathroom, as I feel bad that he is stuck in there…but the vet said it takes 2 weeks for his ringworm test to come back, so I want to make sure that is clean before I expose my kitties to it.

Today’s pose is the Camel Pose.  The only true advancement I have done in Camel is the fact that I rarely get dizzy or light headed in this posture anymore – which is fantastic.  This one does hurt my knee a little bit, especially if I try to get deeper into it.  But if I stay sort of neutral, then it is not a problem.

The studio just did their spring cleaning, which involves asking students to take home their yoga mats, so they can figure out which mats they can clean out – as they aren’t claimed.  They then wash those mats and sell them for just $5/each – which makes for some cheap yoga mats.  Do your studios do that?  I would buy one, but I already have 4 mats – and one I got for just $5 a few years ago.  It is Easter yellow – I use it all the time.

Class was short and quick because Aaron was teaching it again, and he doesn’t keep my attention very well.  He has such a different pace in class and when he says, “last effort” he makes that last effort last many more seconds than other instructors, so I am always feeling a little off in his class.  Namaste.
