Day 118 – Dazed and Confused

Okay, “Dazed and Confused” might be a bit of an exaggeration because it’s a movie title so when I wanted to say, “dazed” I just added the “confused” part.

I was totally in a daze today. There were 17 people in the class and as far as I’m concerned there could have been just 2 besides me – the instructor and the guy next to me.

My eyes must have closed a billion times too. I got a decent amount of sleep last night so not sure where the daze was coming from. I like when that happens in class though as time flies by and the next thing I know we’re on the floor doing floor poses.

Today’s pose is the Full Locust Pose or Poorna-Salabhasana or airplane pose. I felt limited in all my poses today because I’ve taken too long of a break so I’m not as stretched out as I normally am. It did feel so good to stretch out though. I loved it. My feet especially. When I don’t do yoga my feet really suffer. They become stiff and are sore in the morning. I also have noticed that my body craves the half moon series when I’m not doing yoga as well as a back bend.

Had full intentions of going to class on Monday and Tuesday and didn’t make it. Then I watched the Biggest Loser on TV last night and so told my fatass to get up this morning.

I’m going out of town for the rest of the week so best case scenario I’ll be back at it on Monday.

Last night Bill and I went out to dinner with my dad.  I had an organic, free range chicken breast with butternut squash risotto and a side of broccoli.  Doesn’t sound too bad, right?  Well, then Bill and I went to get a milkshake afterward – my idea, of course.   I think the milkshake is what instigated the fireass today in class.  Fireass = diarrhea.

I was in the middle of doing beginning breathing and my stomach was turning and there were only like 8 people in class – I didn’t focus on people count today because I was more worried about exploding.

So I made it to the floor postures and then in the middle of Locust Pose, I thought I was in big trouble, little China.  So I left class and headed to the bathroom – sure enough, took care of business and actually made the rest of class all the more pleasant, which is exactly what I should have done in the first place!  Then I wouldn’t have had to suffer through class that long.  Ugh.

I debate whether or not to write these things on my blog, but I figure this is my journey through yoga, and it’s all part of the journey.  I think yoga is helping me understand what my body can handle and what it cannot.  I am wondering now if I am lactose intolerant.  Any ideas readers?

Today’s pose is the Full Locust Pose.  I am not sure if I have advanced much in this pose.  I am not sure how much advancing that you can do other than to feel stronger in it.  I don’t.  I don’t because I am always so tired from locust pose, that I’m just excited I can keep myself up.

Well, I made it.  5 days this week.  4 weeks to go of trying to meet that goal.  I’m going to do it, Charlie.  Namaste.

Day 25 – Back in the Saddle

“Back in the Saddle” – that’s what I feel about my ass.  That is, that my ass is growing again.  Perhaps it is just the SuperBowl food still disgesting.

I walked into class this morning while they were on the second round of breathing exercises and maybe it wasn’t the fact that I missed the breathing exercises and maybe it was just because I was tired…but I felt off the entire class.  NOT FUN.  I was late because I couldn’t get my contact to want to go into my eye – sooo FRUSTRATING.

I decided to share with you the bruise I had from the stumble I had the other day.  I decided to have my fingers in the photo to show the size of the bruise.  She’s a beauty – this was taken last night, so it has actually gotten a lot better.  Much like the bruise, I imagine this lady had when she fell (this is one of my favorite YouTube videos of all time).  The video is entitled, “Scarlet takes a tumble” and let me tell you, it was Jenny takes a tumble the other day!

Today’s Bikram yoga pose is of the Full Locust Pose or Poorna-Salabhasana.

I should have my knees straighter, but that will come in time.  Other than that, I think it decent…other than I don’t enjoy looking at my backside.  Thank god people like Bill don’t mind or I’d never get lucky.
